Video Transfer
Remember those rolls and rolls of home movies you have from when you were a kid? How you had to dig out the projector (bulbs were $35.00 and only lasted a few hours), load each one up to view it and then rewind before you could watch the next one? The intermissions were longer than the show.
You can enjoy them again--much faster, no broken film to deal with, organized, AND you can share copies with your brothers and sisters.
Family Photo’s Video Transfer Services help you preserve your family’s memories. We transfer 8mm film Home Movies (from the 1950’s and 60’s) and 16mm film Home Movies to VHS video Tape or DVD. Your precious memories are NEVER shipped away for transferring, All the work is done in our store for the best in security and safekeeping. Additional copies for other family members are available.
How should I prepare my order?
Just get all your old movies out and put them in date order, in family order, or however you wish them to be viewed. Label each reel with a number and we will transfer them in that order. We can splice and add leader as necessary to transfer your movies with our specialized equipment.
How much does it cost to put the home movies on DVD?
Each 50 ft. of Regular 8mm or Super 8mm costs $8.50 to digitize. We will then make a DVD show and produce a DVD for you to play in most DVD players for $30 for up 6 hours of movies.
I have big reels, how many feet do they hold?
Five inch reels of 8 mm film is approximately 200 feet or the same as 4 small reels. The larger 7” reels can hold up to 400 feet or 8 small reels.
I have old film that is bigger than 8 mm, can it be transferred?
Larger film is 16mm wide. It can be transferred to VHS for $1.50 per minute of viewing time or to DVD for $2.00 per minute. 16mm is priced per minute because of various frame rates that can be used , so footage is not an accurate measure of how long a film might be.
I can add slides or snapshots or music or titles?
Slides or prints can be added to these orders. Slides are added foras low as 25 cents each ( in Kodak Trays). Prints up to 8”x10” are 50 cents apiece. However, if you have a lot of prints or slides, please check out our 1000 Memories products.
Can I watch?
If you want to be the director, we can make a special appointment to do the work while you watch. Pricing for this service per hour and is charged in addition to the usual charges for the service being done.
